After a few days of heavy rain and the tents in the Karatepe camp flooded once again. Yesterday we saw miserable images on various media platforms depicting

the situation of the people living in these flooded tents. Seeing those images was something many people could not believe. Even more when they realize this camp is situated also in a corner of Europe. But what really shocked everyone was the discovery of an unexploded ordnance in front of one of the tents. Meanwhile, the Greek government has been repeatedly warned by well known INGOs & NGOs along with other various relevant actors about the toxicity of the land the camp is situated upon and the contamination of the soil in that area with lead and the existence of mines. All this, however, has been ignored by the government. What you saw in yesterday’spictures (idle ordnance) that shook you for a moment did not take place in war-torn countries like Afghanistan, Syria and Iraq, but in the (heart) of Europe. This mine was exactly like  the ammunition and weapons of war that we escaped from, and in search of security, we embarked on a journey in which we experienced death many times.

And here, we still feel insecure. Idle ordnance is buried right next to our tents where we spend our days and nights. A mine that even the police were afraid to approach for hours. They were rightfully scared, but do they really expect us not to be afraid of mines and if so why? Is it because we were born in war and we have no right to be afraid since we are used to these things? They were born in peace so they can be afraid of these things. This was not the first mine in the area and it is not the last. Both you and I know this well. And I have to fear the moment when one of these mines explodes under my feet or maybe when our children are playing. Sooner or later this will happen. Again, both you and I know this.

And then I do not know in which court to file a complaint against you. Oh you who hold a father responsible for the death of his son and arrest him, in which court should we address you for playing with the lives of 7,000 people in the Karatepe camp? Must one of these mines explode to turn the eyes and minds back to Karatepe? Like the fire that devastated Moria and woke up the European countries, forcing them to relocate  a number of migrants

If something is about to happen, the time has come. We have a proverb that says prevention is better than the cure. So isn’t it better to start preventing? Because treatment costs can be very expensive for both migrants and the host society.

 پیشگیری بهتر از درمان

 بعد از چند روز بارندگی شدید و زیر آب رفتن خیمه ها در  کمپ کاراتپه ، دیروز شاهد  تصاویر اسفباری از وضعیت مردم و خیمه ها و آبگرفتگی چادرها که در رسانه های مختلف نشر شد ،بودیم .این تصاویر،حتی تصور اینکه این کمپ هم در گوشه ای از اروپاست را برای خیلی ها غیرقابل باور کرده بود . اما آنچه باعث شک همگان شد ،پیدا شدن مینی عمل نشده در روبروی یکی از خیمه ها بود. در حالی که بارها سازمان های مردمی و ارگانهای مختلف درباره سمی بودن زمین کمپ و آلوده بودن خاک آن منطقه به سرب و وجود مین ،به دولت یونان هشدار داده بودند . اما تمام اینها توسط دولت نادیده گرفته شده بود .

آنچه که دیروز در تصاویر دیدید ( مین فعال) و لحظه ای لرزه بر جانتان انداخت در کشورهای جنگ زده ای چون افغانستان و سوریه و عراق نبود بلکه در دل اروپا بود. این مین نمونه ای از همان مهمات و ابزار جنگی بود که ما از آن گریختیم و در جستجوی امنیت راهی سفری شدیم که بارها مرگ را در آن تجربه کردیم . و حالا درست اینجا، در اروپا هم باید احساس ناامنی کنیم. مینهای عمل نشده درست در کنار خیمه هایمان است و ما شب و روز خود را در آن خیمه ها می گذرانیم. مین هایی که حتی پلیس تا ساعتها از نزدیک شدن به آن هراس داشت. آنها ترسیده بودند اما از ما انتظار داشتند که نترسیم .چرا ؟ زیرا ما در جنگ زاده شده ایم و حق ترسیدن نداریم و باید به این چیزها عادت کرده باشیم .اما آنها در صلح و امنیت به دنیا آمده اند و باید هم بترسند. این اولین مین در آن منطقه نبود و آخرین مین هم نیست . این را هم شما خوب می دانید و هم ما. و ما هر لحظه باید بیم آن را داشته باشیم که چه زمانی یکی از این مین ها در زیر پایمان منفجر خواهد شد. یا شاید هم زمانی که کودکانمان  در حال بازی هستند . دیر یا زود این اتفاق خواهد افتاد ! این را هم شما می دانید و هم ما. و دقیقا آن وقت است که ما نمی دانیم که شکایت از شما را به کجا ببریم . ای شمایی که پدری را مسئول مرگ فرزندش در آبهای یونان می دانید و او را دستگیر می‌کنید ،در کدام دادگاه از شما باید شکایت کنیم که با جان ۷۰۰۰ انسان که در کاراتپه زندگی می کنند، بازی می کنید ؟!!

حتما باید یکی از این مین ها منفجر شود تا دوباره چشمها و ذهنها به سوی کاراتپه معطوف شود؟! همچون آتشی که موریا را از بین برد و کشورهای اروپایی را از خواب بیدار و وادار به جابجایی تعدادی از مهاجرین کرد. اگر قرار است کاری انجام دهید ، حالا دقیقا زمان آن است . ما ضرب المثلی داریم که می گوید پیشگیری بهتر از درمان است. آیا بهتر نیست پیشگیری را از همین حالا شروع کنیم ؟! شاید هزینه های درمان چه برای ما مهاجرین و چه برای شما بسیار گران تمام شود.

Landlords all over the world often use force to evict tenants. But in the new camp of Kara Tepe, landlords used force to house tenants in their new tents. And tenants who do not trust the landlord, because the houses he rented to them were deprived of even the most basic humane conditions. No drinking water, no sanitation, not even healthy food. 

I must not forget that the Minister of Immigration was also present during those days, when the migrants refused to enter the camp because they knew that a worse situation than Moria awaited them there. He threatened them with the use of police force and warned them that only the migrants that enter the new camp will continue with their asylum process.

The first question that came to my mind was what difference would it make if their asylum process continued? Dozens of asylum seekers who have completed their asylum process and have been recognized as refugees in Greece have been sleeping on the cobblestones of a park called Victoria in Athens for weeks. It seems like “Moria” is moving from one place to another. Her name changed, but not her nature! For the first few days, police prevented reporters or even rescue workers from entering the camp. Finally, on September 20, reporters were allowed to enter the camp, but were not allowed to speak to the migrants. A spokesman of the Ministry of Migration accompanied them and constantly reminded them that they were not allowed to interview people. What could be the reason for this, other than the existence of things worth hiding and individuals who are afraid of being exposed? The new Moria is covered with white tents from afar, in a neat and structured manner. But these days it is flooded and covered with mud up close.

The autumn rains have started and this has raised the concerns of human rights defenders. They want to address the deplorable situation of the new camp as soon as possible because the first autumn rains took a toll on the lives of the people of the camp. Autumn rains are usually enjoyable for several people, but sometimes migration makes the things that you enjoy the most into the bitterest ones. Exactly what the migrants of the new camp experienced, after the first autumn rain, I experienced too three years ago in the camp of Schisto in Athens. Yes, in some camps of the capital there are still migrants living in tents.

On the night of the first autumn rain, the sound of raindrops on my tent terrified me. Imagine a low hanging fabric roof of the tent that you could not even stand upright inside it, and a dark space for a room due to the lack of electricity. I felt cold. My parents were stressed. All our belongings such as equipment, even the blankets inside the tent were wet, we could not find a dry place to sit. Water was dripping from the door and the wall of the tent. We had never been in this situation. All the inhabitants of the surrounding tents had already got out of them. Everyone was trying to dig ditches around the tents with any means they could to find a way to stop the water from entering them.

I remember exactly how bad I felt that rainy night. It was pouring with rain and no one could notice the tears on each other’ s faces. I remember well that the part of my brain that is dedicated to comparison was activated. How I loved rainy nights. Rainy days in the fall were always my choice for walking, followed by the beautiful feeling of soaking in the rain and returning home to a hot shower, sitting by the fireplace and drinking a cup of hot tea with sweets. A beautiful image comes to your mind, right? This was usually my ritual on rainy days. Believe us, we are ordinary human beings. Why do some people do not want to acknowledge that we too have a home and a family? Why is it so hard for them to believe that migrants are not used to living in tents under such difficult conditions?

I hope at least the migrants were given safety instructions before entering the camp, like for example a map, so that they would know where to go at least in an emergency. Or to be given the necessary training on how to react to future potential dangers. For example, we all know that in the event of an earthquake, one must take refuge in safe places or, for example, under a table. Some sources even stated that Kara Tepe was a shooting range for the Greek army and mentioned the possibility of forgotten mines still active on the field and that the land is poisoned by lead.

I saw an interview of a woman residing in the new Camp of Kara Tepe that mentioned a significant point. She said that the last time the camp (Moria) caught fire, they fled to the nearby forest out of fear of the flames. In this new camp, however, they are surrounded by sea. If something happens, should they take refuge in the sea, she asked?

Countless photos have been published of the new camp and the process of relocating the migrants to it, but one that will not be erased from my mind is the photo of a boy lying on a rock. What an awkward situation when your child puts his head on a rock and sleeps for a moment and you do not want to wake him up so that, at least the dream world, he would roam far from the place where he lives in?

The living conditions in the new camp are literally unbearable and, even more tragic, is the reaction of the government and politicians to this issue. In 2015, a Kurdish child drowned in Mediterranean waters and the borders were opened to migrants, and now in 2020 a camp with a population of more than 12,000 was burned down and government officials realized that it was about time to move migrants to other countries in Europe. They called in a number of migrants, although the priority is given to those who are ill and, according to them, are no longer able to fight the hardships and the problems.

And I ask myself again why we are waiting for a bad and irreparable accident to happen to make them think and move towards a positive action. If during these four years a certain number of migrants were accepted and relocated to other European countries every year, a “hell” like Moria would never exist.

صاحبخانه و مستاجر

در همه جای دنیا ، معمولا صاحبخانه ها برای بیرون کردن مستاجرین متوسل به زور می شوند ، اما در کاراتپه کمپ جدید صاحبخانه برای اینکه مستاجرین را درخیمه های جدیدشان سکنی دهد ،متوسل به زور شده است . و مستاجرینی که به صاحبخانه اعتماد ندارند زیرا خانه‌هایی که قبلا به آنها اجاره داده بود، آنها حتی از ابتدایی ترین حقوق انسانی خود نیز محروم بودند .نه آب آشامیدنی، نه سرویس بهداشتی به تعداد نیاز و نه حتی غذای سالم. 

تا فراموش نکردم باید بگویم در این کارزار وزیر مهاجرتی هم حضور داشت و زمانی که مهاجرین از ورود به کمپ خودداری می کردند چون می دانستند وضعیتی بدتر از موریا در انتظار آنهاست، مهاجرین را به برخورد پلیس تهدید می کرد و به آنها هشدار داده بود که تنها مهاجرینی که وارد کمپ جدید شوند روند پناهندگی شان ادامه پیدا می کند. برایم سوال است که چه تفاوتی در وضعیتشان ایجاد می‌شود اگر روند پناهندگی شان ادامه پیدا کند؟ زیرا ده ها تن از مهاجرینی که روند پناهندگی شان به اتمام رسیده است و به عنوان پناهنده در یونان به رسمیت شناخته شده اند، هفته هاست که در پارکی به نام ویکتوریا در آتن سر بر سنگفرش های پارک می‌گذارند و به خواب می روند. 

موریا فقط از مکانی به مکان دیگر منتقل شد. نامش تغییر کرد، اما ماهیتش نه. در روزهای ابتدایی ،پلیس از ورود خبرنگاران و حتی امدادرسانان به کمپ جلوگیری می کرد. بالاخره در روز۲۰سپتامبر خبرنگاران اجازه ورود به کمپ را پیدا کردند ،اما اجازه صحبت کردن با مهاجرین را نداشتند. سخنگوی وزارت مهاجرت آنها را همراهی می کرد و مدام به آنها گوشزد می کرد که اجازه مصاحبه را ندارند. و این چه دلیلی می تواند داشته باشد به غیر از اینکه چیزهایی برای مخفی کردن وجود دارد و هستند کسانی که از برملا شدن آن در هراسند. 

موریای جدید پوشیده از خیمه های سفید است اما از نزدیک پوشیده از گل و لای است. بارانهای پاییزی شروع شده و این نگرانی مدافعین حقوق بشر را برانگیخته و آنها خواهان رسیدگی هر چه سریعتر به وضعیت اسفناک کمپ جدید هستند زیرا اولین باران پاییزی زندگی مردم کمپ را مختل کرد .

بارانهای پاییزی معمولا برای اکثریت مردم لذت بخش است. اما گاهی مهاجرت لذت بخش ترین ها را برایت تلخ ترین می کند. دقیقا تمام این اتفاقاتی که شما بعد از باران در کمپ جدید تجربه کردید، سه سال پیش من در اسخیستو ( کمپی در آتن) تجربه کردم. آری، در آتن هم هنوز هستند کمپ هایی که مهاجرین در خیمه زندگی می کنند .

شبی که اولین باران پاییزی بارید، صدای انعکاس قطرات باران بر روی خیمه مرا به وحشت انداخته بود. تصور کنید  سقفی از پارچه با ارتفاع کم که حتی نمیتوانی تمام قد داخل خیمه بایستید و فضایی تاریک زیرا برقی وجود نداشت. احساس سرما می کردم. پدر و مادرم مضطرب شده بودند. تمام وسایل و حتی پتوهای داخل خیمه خیس شده بود. جای خشکی برای نشستن پیدا نمی کردیم، از در و دیوار خیمه آب چکه می کرد .هیچوقت در آن شرایط قرار نگرفته بودیم. همه ی ساکنین خیمه های اطراف از خیمه ها بیرون آمده بودند. همه به هر طریقی سعی می کردند با هر وسیله ای که دارند کانالهایی حفر کنند در اطراف خیمه ها تا آب راهی برای عبور پیدا کند. من دقیقا به یاد دارم که چه حس بدی در آن روز بارانی داشتم .باران در حال باریدن بود و کسی متوجه اشکهای جاری روی صورتها نمی شد. خوب به یاد دارم که باز هم آن قسمت از مغزم که مخصوص مقایسه است فعال شده بود. چقدر عاشق شبهای بارانی بودم . روزهای بارانی پاییز همیشه انتخاب من برای پیاده روی بود و بعد از آن حس قشنگ خیس شدن زیر باران ، برگشتن به خانه، دوش آب گرم و نشستن کنار شومینه و نوشیدن فنجانی چای داغ و شیرینی. تصویر زیبایی در ذهنتان نقش بست. درست است؟ این برنامه بیشتر روزهای بارانی من بود. باور کنید ما انسانهای نرمالی هستیم. چرا برخی افراد نمی خواهند بدانند که ما خانه و خانواده ای داشته ایم؟ چرا برایشان سخت است که باور کنند که مهاجرین عادت به زندگی در خیمه ها با شرایط سخت ندارند؟

امیدوارم قبل از ورود به کمپ نقشه راهنمایی به مهاجرین داده شده باشد تا حداقل بدانند در مواقع اضطراری به کجا پناه ببرند و یا آموزشهای لازم در مورد نحوه واکنش با خطرات احتمالی و یا حوادث آینده به آنها داده شده باشد . به طور مثال همه می‌دانیم در مواقع زلزله باید در مکانهای امن و  یا مثلا زیر میز پناه گرفت.اما در کمپ جدید مردم نمی دانند برای در امان ماندن از سیل و آوار شدن خیمه هایشان به کدام مکان امن پناه ببرند. حتی بعضی منابع خبری اعلام کردند که کمپ کاراتپه در گذشته یکی از میدانهای تیراندازی ارتش یونان بوده و حتی احتمال وجود مین های فراموش شده فعال در زمین کمپ و سمی بودن زمینها بواسطه سرب نیز اشاره شده است. 

مصاحبه ای از یکی از زنان کمپ کارا تپه را دیدم که به نکته قابل تاملی اشاره کرد او گفت :”دفعه قبل که کمپ آتش گرفت اطرافش مملو از جنگل بود و ما توانستیم تا از شعله های آتش بگریزیم ولی در کمپ جدید دور تا دور ما با دریا محاصره شده است اگر اتفاقی رخ دهد آیا باید به دریا پناه ببریم؟ “عکس های بی شماری از کمپ جدید و پروسه انتقال مهاجرین به کمپ جدید منتشر شده است ،اما عکسی کهاز ذهن من پاک نخواهد شد عکس پسر بچه ای است که سر بر سنگ نهاده و به خواب رفته است. با قرار گرفتن در چه شرایطی حاضری کودکت سر بر سنگ بگذارد و لحظه ای بخوابد تا حداقل در عالم خواب از محلی که در آن زندگی می‌کند، فاصله بگیرد ؟

وضعیت زندگی در کمپ جدید واقعا اسفناک است و اسفبار تر از آن واکنش دولتمردان و سیاسیون به این قضیه است.کودکی کرد در آبهای مدیترانه غرق در سال ۲۰۱۵ و مرزها به روی مهاجرین گشوده شد و حالا در سال ۲۰۲۰ کمپی با بیش از ۱۲۰۰۰۰ جمعیت در آتش سوخته و دولتمردان تازه متوجه شدند که حالا زمان جابجایی مهاجرین به کشورهای دیگر اروپایی است و هر یک از کشورهای اروپایی خواستار تعدادی از مهاجرین شدند . هر چند اولویت با کسانی است که بیمار هستند و دیگر توانی برای مبارزه با سختی ها و مشکلات ندارند. باز هم از خودم پرسیدم چرا منتظریم تا حادثه ای بد و غیر قابل جبران پیش بیاید تا ما را به فکر وا دارد و باعث عملکرد مثبتی شود.
